Windows offers the capability to run under Administrator or Standard User Account settings. (In Windows XP the terminology is Limited User Account). Please run the latest updates to the BibleWorks under your Administrator account to ensure that the activation of the program will be recognized under your Standard or Limited user account.

If you wish to run BibleWorks 8 or later versions while operating in a Standard or Limited User Account, please follow these instructions.

1. Login to your computer under the Administrator account to obtain Administrative Rights.  (For more information about Administrative Rights, click here.)

2. Install and activate BibleWorks under the Administrator account.

3. After you have installed and activated under the Administrator account it is necessary to update the BibleWorks Executable while in the Administrator account.

a. Go to Help | Check for updates. (If you have BibleWorks 8 or 9, go to Help | BibleWorks on the Internet | Check for updates).

b. Select and apply the BibleWorks Executable.

c. Repeat this process to apply other updates at your leisure.

4. Ensure that the BibleWorks Executable has been updated.  Open BibleWorks and check the version number listed under Help | About BibleWorks. The version number listed there should be Version 10.0.3.367 or higher(8.0.020b.1 or higher for BibleWorks 8 or 9.0.010v.1 or higher for BibleWorks 9).

5. Verify folder permissions are assigned to the Standard or Limited User account as follows:
a. Right click on the BibleWorks folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\BibleWorks n, where n is the BibleWorks version) in Windows Explorer.

b. Select Properties.

c. Click on the Security tab.

d. In the Group or user names box if Everyone is listed, select Everyone and go to step (e) below. If Everyone is not listed, please follow these steps to add it:

6. Close BibleWorks, log out of the Administrator account and login through the Standard or Limited account. When you first open BibleWorks in your Standard or Limited Account the program will undergo a process of copying a number of files and display a progress bar to indicate that it is doing so. BibleWorks is now configured to operate under a Standard or Limited account.
