BibleWorks 8 and above export Greek and Hebrew text in Unicode fonts by default.  Unicode fonts have codes for every character in most of the speaking languages in the world, making it easier to share documents containing exported Greek and Hebrew text with others who do not have the BibleWorks fonts (like Bwgrkl and Bwhebb) on their computer.  An additional advantage to the Unicode fonts is that Hebrew can be typed right to left and exported text will break in the correct direction when one inserts a tab or carriage return.

The following procedure will guide you in turning off the default settings for exporting in Unicode fonts. This techique is helpful if you are using WordPerfect which is not compatible with Unicode fonts.

1. Turn Off Export in Unicode for Greek and Hebrew in the Fonts Panel

a. Click Tools on the menu bar, then choose Options from the drop-down menu.
b. In the index on the left click Fonts to display that panel.
c. Uncheck the two first two boxes under Unicode Fonts (Export Only): Export Greek Resources (Analysis Window, Lexicons) as Unicode and Export Hebrew resources (Analysis Window, Lexicons) as Unicode. These are global settings that can override the individual copy settings.  (Settings are boxed in red in illustration below.)

2.  Verify Font Typefaces For Export

a. With the Fonts panel still displayed, click Export Fonts as the font set to edit.  (Upper left part of panel.)
b. Check that the export font for Greek is set to Bwgrkl, and the export for Hebrew is set to Bwhebb.  (These are the non-Unicode fonts available for export.)
c.. Click the OK button to accept the changes and close the window.
d. Close and reopen BibleWorks to save the settings.

If an export is performed, but the export is still in Unicode, review all of the settings above to confirm that Unicode is actually turned off for the export method that was used.
