Will BibleWorks Ever Be Ported to a Linux Platform?

Linux users familiar with BibleWorks regularly request our company to develop a version of BibleWorks for their platform.   We have so far chosen not to produce a Linux version.  Our corporate mission at BibleWorks is to serve the church and Biblical scholarship as thoroughly as we can, given the resources we possess. The small size of BibleWorks, LLC would probably surprise most people; and, while this small size enables the company to produce a useful product at a very reasonable price, it does restrict our capacity to pursue many avenues of development in parallel. While Linux admittedly has an increasing following, it remains true that most pastors, seminarians, and Bible scholars use a Windows or Mac operating system. Consequently, because we have the resources to maintain only one implementation, we believe we can help the church and Biblical scholarship the most by serving the Windows community and, through the BibleWorks Mac Installer, the Mac community.  These two communities are served through only one core implementation, reducing maintenance and customer costs.

BibleWorks is, of course, available to the Linux community through Windows emulation.  For current requirements of such emulators for BibleWorks, please visit this page. Searching the BibleWorks Forums General Discussion for the keyword Linux also will produce significant experiential information from customers who have used such emulation.
