BibleWorks comes with a large number of resources ready to use out-of-the-box. There are, though, additional resources that can be added to the program as well. For BibleWorks 7, these were included on an additional CD in the package; for BibleWorks 5, 6, and 8, the files were included on the program installation disc(s).

During installation, if any of these additional (locked) databases have been installed to the computer, a prompt will display each time BibleWorks is started, since BibleWorks is configured by default to check for unlocked databases. It is possible to change the setting in BibleWorks so that the prompt box will not display, even when there are locked databases installed on the computer. To change the setting, take the following steps:
1. With BibleWorks running, open the OPTIONS dialog box.
(Click TOOLS on the menu bar, then choose OPTIONS from the drop-down menu.)
2. In the Options dialog box, click on the OPTION FLAGS tab.
3. In the list of Option Flags, click the plus sign (+) next to STARTUP OPTIONS to expand the list.
4. At some point in the list there will be an item stating Check for Locked Databases on Startup.
(Where the item appears in the list will vary, depending on the version of BibleWorks in use.)
5. Click the item so that the checkbox becomes unchecked.
6. Click the OK button in the lower, right-hand corner of the dialog box.
7. Close and reopen BibleWorks to confirm that the change was effective.
