The manuscript transcriptions in BibleWorks are copyrighted material and they will likely remain that way, primarily so that their pedigree can be maintained. They have more value to the scholarly community if the texts are licensed and maintained by a single entity or organization. We also want to maintain enough control to prevent their being turned into revenue sources. The only way we can do that is to maintain copyright control and require that people get approval before any public use. Our personal conviction is the Word of God should not be sold and that these transcriptions are Scripture. We would entertain and likely approve any use that honors this conviction.

The transcriptions do include corrections. The mechanism for encoding the variants is similar to the work done by Swanson, with variants put in a separate version of each verse. The raw data is in simple ASC format and the searchable versions are in BibleWorks Greek format using a non-Unicode font.
