If BibleWorks freezes immediately upon launch it is not going to be possible, usually, to make any kind of changes to the program. There are a number of measures that can be taken when this condition is encountered. To access any of these, one must open the BibleWorks Trouble-shooting Options dialog box. This is done by holding down the SHIFT key on the keyboard and double-clicking on the icon as one would do to start the program.

When the Trouble-Shooting box opens, there are several actions that can be taken, but the first measures that should be tried are as follows:
1. Revert to a previous version of the BibleWorks executable file. If an update was recently performed, after which problems occurred, this will often provide the solution.
2. Delete the BibleWorks INI file. Occasionally problems will start to occur when settings changes have been made. When the BibleWorks INI file has been deleted, the program automatically generates a new one based on default settings.
3. When the program has begun to misfunction so severely that these steps won't work, then it is time to uninstall and reinstall the program. This is preferrred over a REPAIR action (offered when the Setup program is run) because REPAIR will overwrite later files with the earlier out-of-the- box files.
