Why Did I Get Unexpected Word Highlighting in the Browse Window?

A new feature introduced in BibleWorks 9 is Instant Difference Highlighting.  With this feature, differences between same language display versions are automatically highlighted in the Browse Window.  As with other features in BibleWorks, display of Instant Difference Highlighting can be toggled on or off according to one's preference. If unexpected text highlighting occurs in the Browse Window (similar to that shown below) you may have translation Difference Highlighting toggled on. Instant Difference Highlighting can be done from the program menu bar, from the Browse Window Options menu, or with a keyboard shortcut.  The steps for each are as follows.


USE OF THE MENU BAR

1. Click View on the menu bar.

2. On the drop-down menu click Show/Hide.

3. On the sub-menu click Difference Highlighting.

USE OF BROWSE WINDOW OPTIONS MENU

1. On the Browse Window Listboxes menu, clicking the left-most icon will display the Browse Window Options menu.

2. On the Browse Window Options menu, find and click Toggle Difference Highlighting.

   (When this feature is 'on', this menu item will have a checkmark in front of it.)

USE OF KEYBOARD SHORTCUT

1. Make the Browse Window active by clicking in it with the mouse pointer or pressing the F6 function key.

2. Press the 'e' key on the computer keyboard.

Note:  If none of the above measures removes highlighting, check the Text Comparison Settings window, as a comparison set may be enabled.

1. Click Tools on the menu bar.

2. Click Viewing the text on the drop-down menu.

3. Click Text Comparison Settings on the sub-menu.

4. Look at the Enable box for any Text Comparison sets created.  If checked, remove the checkmark.  (See illustration below.)
