A stall during installation of BibleWorks is caused on a few computers by a complex interaction that occurs between BibleWorks, InstallShield (a non-BibleWorks installation program) and the computer's specific media (CD, DVD, or USB) drive.

In such cases, we have found a successful installation will be achieved if data from the BibleWorks media are temporarily copied to a folder in another location accessible to the target computer, such as an external hard drive.  (If copying to an external hard drive, make certain that there is sufficient free space on that drive for all files.  This amount varies from one version of BibleWorks to another.)  The BibleWorks installation program, setup.exe, can then be executed from that folder.

For those customers not comfortable with doing a Windows copy and installation as just described, we've provided an illustrated, detailed step-by-step procedure on how to do it (for BibleWorks 9 and previous versions) here for Windows XP and (for all versions of BibleWorks) here for later versions of Windows. Please adapt the procedure to the kind of media you received with your particular version of BibleWorks.

Once in a great while this process will reveal that a BibleWorks distribution medium is not able to complete a Windows copy. This is an indication that the medium is bad and we ask that you contact BibleWorks to receive a replacement medium at no charge.
