The task of moving computer files from one folder to another is referred to as File Management. The reasons for performing this task vary greatly. One such reason is that suggested to serve as a workaround when the regular software installation process for BibleWorks has not successfully completed. When the installation runs completely from the hard drive, it has usually produced the expected result.

The task of copying the files from the CD drive to the temporary folder is a Windows task. As such, there are multiple ways that the task can be done. It is best performed in Windows Explorer, a utility that allows one to see and work with files that are stored on the computer.

Like other Windows programs, Windows Explorer sports a title bar, a menu bar, a toolbar and a status bar. The largest part of the display is divided into two sections. On the left-hand side one sees a folder tree. On the right-hand side, one sees the contents panel. This window will display the contents of the selected, or active folder in the folder tree. When copying files, one uses both the folder tree and contents panel, along with other features of the display, depending on the method used.

To start, open Windows Explorer, then choose one of the following methods.
1. Use of the Menu Bar
a. In Windows Explorer, click the icon to view the drive/folder that contains the files to be copied.
b. Click EDIT on the menu bar and click on SELECT ALL. (All files in the contents panel should be shaded to indicate that they are selected.)
c. Click EDIT again, and this time click on COPY.
d. In the folder tree panel, click (to select) the folder to which the files are to be copied.
e. Once again, click EDIT on the menu bar and click on PASTE. Depending on the amount of data to be copied, a small dialog box may open to display the progress of the copy action.
2. Use of the computer keyboard
a. View the folder containing the files to be copied.
b. Hold the CTRL key and begin clicking on files that appear in the contents panel. Each file will remain selected when the CTRL key is held down in this manner. When all files have been selected that are to be copied, proceed to the next step.
c. Hold the CTRL key and press the 'C' key on the keyboard. (Use of SHIFT here is unnecessary. The letter was capitalized for emphasis.)
d. Now click (to select) the icon for the folder to which the files are to be copied.
e. Hold the CTRL key and press the 'V' key. A progress dialog box may display.
3. Use of the Drag-and-Drop method.
a. View the folder containing the files to be copied.
b. Hold the CTRL key and begin clicking on files that appear in the contents panel. Each file will remain selected when the CTRL key is held down in this manner. When all files have been selected that are to be copied, proceed to the next step.
c. Move the mouse anywhere over a selected file.
d. Click and hold the left mouse button.
e. Drag the mouse to the folder tree and over the folder icon to which the
files are to be copied. The folder should change color to indicate it is the selected folder.
f. Release the mouse button to complete the action.
(In the third option described above, there is a variation that may prove to be more useful. Instead of pressing and holding the left mouse button, do so with the right mouse button. When the mouse button is released, a pop-up menu displays. If the wrong folder had been selected to which the files would be copied, this pop-up menu presents the opportunity to abort the process and start over again.)
