BibleWorks has the ability to export the Hebrew text from the program to other programs. Each version of BibleWorks since BibleWorks 8 exports the text in Unicode Hebrew and Greek fonts under the program’s default settings. Unicode fonts make the exported text in documents readable and transferable without another computer having to have BibleWorks fonts installed to that computer. To compose text in a Unicode Hebrew or Greek font, however, one should consult the documentation support for his/her word processor for information on how to use Hebrew and Greek Unicode fonts within that word processor. BibleWorks does not provide such information.
Alternatively, BibleWorks may be set to export Hebrew and Greek text in the non-Unicode fonts that BibleWorks uses to display text within the program. Using these export fonts can be helpful for those who are exporting to WordPerfect or those who are exporting to old documents made prior to one’s use of BibleWorks 8. Click here for instructions on how to set the program to do so. BibleWorks Hebrew and Greek fonts like Bwhebb.ttf and Bwgrkl.ttf use an English keyboard as a convenience for English language users. When the Bwhebb.ttf font is used in word processing programs like Microsoft Word one should anticipate that it will not operate naturally like Hebrew with right to left and word wrapping capabilities.
In years past BibleWorks sought to provide a Word macro for users working in MS Word to make Hebrew text typed in Bwhebb.ttf function in Word more like Hebrew should. However, the refinement of the BibleWorks Editor and the ability of BibleWorks to export Hebrew in Unicode fonts has since met the needs that prompted the creation of that macro. The macro has not been developed further and is not currently supported by BibleWorks. It does remain in the folder structure of BibleWorks as a legacy item as a courtesy to those who have previously used it. Users who wish to try it on their own may consult section 16 of the BibleWorks 10 Help for more information.
The BibleWorks Editor provides basic composition capabilities for non-Unicode (Bwhebb) and Unicode fonts like SBL Hebrew. See the Help Contents for the Editor for more information. When working with Unicode text in the BibleWorks Editor, one would need information on how to enter an accent for that font. Click here for information that might be helpful in that regard.
BibleWorks recommends composing Hebrew in the BibleWorks Editor, saving the file as a .rtf file, opening the file in Word or one’s other preferred word processor, and refining it there.
One keyboard editor that some BibleWorks users have recommended for composing Hebrew text in a word processor or the BibleWorks Editor is Keyman (described here). BibleWorks, though, doesn't provide support for its use within or outside the program.
