When typing in non-Roman/Latin scripts such as Greek and Hebrew, remembering which characters correspond to which keys can at times be difficult.  At such times, a keyboard image, showing the character positions, can be very helpful.  BibleWorks provides such an image for the various keyboards one can encounter in the program.  One can display these keyboards with a button bar button or the menu command Tools > Interface Settings > BibleWorks Keyboard.

Click here to see a video on this operation. See the end of this article where you can download a pdf copy of the BibleWorks Greek and Hebrew fontmaps.

The BibleWorks Greek and Hebrew keyboard images apply when the respective BibleWorks fonts are active in the program.  When typing on the Command Line, only the BibleWorks fonts will be active. In the Notes tab and the BibleWorks Editor, it is possible to set a Unicode font for input.  When this has been done, different keyboard images will be required because the keyboards for those fonts do not correspond to the BibleWorks keyboard images.

When the SBL Greek or Hebrew fonts are so selected, it is possible to have an image of those keyboards where the characters correspond their respective fonts.  One resource from which this is available is a Microsoft site called the "Go Global Developer Center", which is accessible by clicking HERE.

When the site opens, it should look similar to that shown below.  To display a keyboard, click the down arrow on the right end of the field (circled in red) to display a list of available keyboards, scroll up or down the list, if necessary, then click the desired keyboard.  The keyboard that will work with the SBL Greek Unicode font shows as "Greek Polytonic".  That which works with the SBL Hebrew Unicode font shows simply as "Hebrew".

The image below shows a section of the keyboards menu where the Greek Polytonic and Hebrew selections are found.

When a language keyboard has been selected, a small window will open.  It will take a moment to load, after which the displayed image should look similar to that shown below.

It is important to point out that the displayed keyboard image indicates only  which characters will be typed with the keys shown.  This is to say that if one intends to type in Unicode Greek or Unicode Hebrew, the displayed keys represent only a limited set of the characters available in the Unicode set.  Typing characters that contain accents or breathing marks require specialized keystroke combinations and the like for which there are products available that provide that kind of input functionality.  One, for example, is Keyman Desktop by Tavultesoft.  Other products of the same kind are available on the Internet.
