How to Install the BibleWorks 9 Mac Installer

  1. IMPORTANT: Close all programs and restart your Mac. Do not insert your BibleWorks DVD or attempt to run BibleWorks before proceeding. For those installing from the download file, please follow these steps after you have downloaded the 12.7 GB file.
  2. Click here to download the Mac installer [~70MB, updated 2015-10-01]
       (requires the items above)
  3. Run the BibleWorks 9 Mac installer. It will instruct you to drag and copy the BibleWorks package to the OS X Applications folder. Click on the BibleWorks icon in the window and drag it onto the Applications folder in the window. NOTE: If asked if you want to Keep both or Replace, please select Replace.
  4. After The BibleWorks icon/file is copied to the OS X Applications  folder, You will need to have the installation files available for access during installation. The following steps will guide you in preparing a folder with those installation files.
    1. To install BibleWorks on a Mac, the System Requirements specify that a DVD drive is needed. The steps below have worked for some users, but we can’t guarantee success if your system does not have a DVD drive.
    2. You will need to copy all of the files from the BibleWorks DVDs into a single folder on your Mac. There are several ways to accomplish this. The most efficient way to copy these files is on another computer to a portable USB drive or external hard drive. Another option is to copy the files over your LAN if your Mac and the other computer with a DVD drive are connected on a LAN though we do not recommend this because of the amount of data (12 GB) Note: When you are copying the files on the DVD into a single folder, you can allow the following files to be overwritten: crc.exe, crcf.exe., check.exe, crc.def.
    3. Some flash drives may need additional formatting to receive large files, please click here for how to accomplish this formatting.
    4. Connect the flash drive, hard drive or copy the single folder with the installation files to your computer.
  5. Open a Finder window, go to the Applications folder, and run BibleWorks. This window should appear:

    1. Ignore this window and go to the main menu (the Apple menu). You should see the Apple symbol and to the right of it BibleWorks and File..
    2. From the main menu, select File | Run Command.
    3. In the Run Command window, click Browse and go to the folder with your DVD files.
    4. Select “setup.exe” from that folder and click the Open button.
    5. In the Run Command window, click the Run button.
    6. The BibleWorks installation program will now begin. Follow all onscreen instructions to install BibleWorks.
  6. The BibleWorks InstallShield Wizard will begin.

  7. When the window below appears, click Next.

  8. Now it is time to enter your activation/unlock codes. Click Next in the window below.

Press the Copy to List button. Then enter any module codes like ESVS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. If you know how to copy and paste you can copy and paste the codes into this window. Click Next after all codes appear in the list.

  14. You are now ready to select the resources you want to install. To customize your option, click Custom. Please leave Check online for critical updates selected so that the installer can download the current update. This is essential for your installation to work properly. Click Next.

  16. Finish any remaining steps in the installer.
  17. When installation is completed, the installer will say that it needs to restart your computer. Simply click OK/Yes/Finish. You do NOT need to restart your Mac. The installer will restart the BibleWorks environment by itself.
    1. When the installation is complete, you will be back at the Run Command window. Click the Cancel button.
    2. The window with “Install / Reconfigure” and “Cancel” will be visible. You may click Cancel to close it.
