Does the Hebrew OT in BibleWorks (the WTT) Contain Accents?AA-02730Biblical Hebrew, which is represented in letters as well as vowel-points, also has a sophisticated system of accents that serve a variety of functions in the text. They can represent tone-syllables, punctuation marks, and even musical notes. Not only does BibleWorks include these accents, the display of each type of accent mark can be toggled on or off as needed. BibleWorks is designed so that the Hebrew vowel-points must be displayed when the accents are displayed. (It is possible to display the text with no vowel points, with vowel points only, or with vowel points and accents. The accents will not display if vowel point display is turned off.) Turning the display of accents on or off can be done in either of two ways. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS 1. Set the WTT so that it is displayed in the Browse Window, whether it is the Search Version, or a Display Version in Multi-Version mode. Each keystroke acts as a toggle. If the feature is already on, hitting the key (X or A) will turn the display off. If it is off, then hitting the key will turn it on again. BW OPTIONS WINDOW 1. Open the BW Options Window. (Tools > Options) 4. The entry near the top of the list, "Show the following Hebrew word accents in Browse Window", will serve to turn the display off or on, as preferred. Regarding the display of individual accents, as noted in point 5, if individual accents are turned 'off' here, then toggling the display of accents with the main command at the top of the list, or by use of shortcut keys, will not turn on again any individual accents that had been turned off. It is necessary to return to the list and check their boxes to restore their display.
