Dragging the Mac Installer file to the Applications Folder Produces "You Don't Have Permission" Error


Restricted user account permissions or antivirus software running on your Mac may produce the following error when you attempt to drag the Mac Installer File to the Applications folder on your Mac: "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items." To address that error and install BibleWorks, please do the following:

1. Do not use the Mac Installer that comes in the mac_installer folder from your BibleWorks 10 USB flash drive or download if you have an Internet connection when you install BibleWorks. A Mac installer .dmg file is provided on the flash drive or download only for those customers who cannot install BibleWorks with an Internet connection.

2. When installing BibleWorks to a Mac you should use the current version of the Mac Installer file downloaded in step 3 of the installation instructions here.

3. If you are using antivirus software on your Mac apply any available updates for it. We have had reports that the free version of Avira Antivirus for Mac caused error in one instance.

4. Check if you running from a user account with full administrative permissions. You will need to use a user account with full administrative permissions to install BibleWorks 10.

In the Mac OS X:
a. Open the Apple menu.
b. Select System Preferences.
c In the System Preferences window, click on the Accounts icon.
d. In the list of accounts on the left side of the Accounts window, locate your account.
e. If the word "Admin" is immediately below your account name, then you are an administrator on this workstation and you can install BibleWorks 10.
    If the word "Standard" is there, then you are not an administrator and your account cannot be used to install software or make administrative changes.
