Unicode Hebrew formatting and font size not retained when pasting from clipboard into Microsoft Word for Mac
When
pasting Unicode Hebrew text from BibleWorks into Microsoft Word for
Mac, sometimes the proper font size is not set. This appears to be a bug
in Microsoft Word for Mac. Pasting the same clipboard contents into
other Mac word processors such as Pages or Bean correctly retains the
export font size. For some reason, the current version of Word for Mac
will retain certain Hebrew font sizes (e.g. 13.5, 18, 24, 36) but not
others (e.g. 16) when pasting from programs like BibleWorks.
In
more recent versions of the BW Mac Installer (10-44 and higher),
BibleWorks puts two text formats into the clipboard: RTF and HTML.
Prior to this, only the RTF format was placed onto the clipboard. On
Word for Mac, the RTF format is good at retaining the font size, but it
did not successfully preserve Unicode Hebrew text wrapping or bulleted
lists. On Word for Mac, the HTML format is good at retaining the Unicode
Hebrew text wrapping and bulleted lists, but the font size is not
always preserved (see above).
You can experiment with these formats (when pasting into Word for Mac) by right-clicking in Word and selecting Paste Special. In the window that opens, you can select whether to paste the HTML clipboard format or the RTF clipboard format.
